Your Mental Health Matters

Mental health matters because there is no such thing as being too rich, too thin or having the perfect body. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and it affects you, your relationships and your community. You can improve your mental health by making small changes in your daily life.

Mental health is just as important as physical health.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Mental health refers to a person's emotional wellbeing, their ability to cope with life and relationships, and their capacity to work productively. It's also about having the resources needed for daily living.

Mental illness has been called "the largest unaddressed medical problem in the world today." Yet despite its prevalence, mental illness is often misunderstood or stigmatized. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 450 million people worldwide suffer from some form of mental disorder each year--that's 1 out every 4 people!

Mental health matters because it affects you, your relationships and your community.

Mental health matters because it affects you, your relationships and your community.

  • Mental health affects your relationships: People who have good mental health are more likely to have positive and supportive relationships with others. This can help them feel less isolated or lonely when they need support.

  • Mental health affects you: Having poor mental health can make it hard for someone to do their best at work or school, which may lead to problems in their job/study performance or being fired from jobs (or expelled from schools). This makes it harder for that person's future prospects as well as those around them who rely on them financially - like parents paying for college tuition fees!

You can improve your mental health by making small changes in your daily life.

  • Exercise

  • Meditation

  • Social interaction

  • Good nutrition and sleep.

Be kind to yourself

  • Be kind to yourself.

  • Don't be hard on yourself.

  • Don't compare yourself to others (or even the person you were before).

  • Don't feel guilty about what you can't do, or think that there's something wrong with you because of it--it's okay if some things are more difficult than others!

  • Ask for help when needed; don't try to do everything alone all the time. You're only human! And sometimes humans need other humans around them for support, especially when things get tough!

  • Take a break from work/school/life once in awhile so that we can recharge our batteries and come back refreshed and ready for action again later down the road when needed most urgently by our loved ones :)

Mental health is just as important as physical health. It affects you, your relationships and your community. You can improve your mental health by making small changes in your daily life.
