The International Girls Academy Partners with Intuit For a Special Dinner and Learn Session for Black Women’s Equal Pay Day

For the past two years, The International Girls Academy has had the opportunity to partner with unique brands ranging from Amazon, Shutterstock, and Starbucks, to name a few, for our dinner and Learn Sessions. These collaborations and partnerships were done to assist with exposing the next generation of students to opportunities in S.T.E.M, Media, H.R., and much more. This Dinner and Learn session is unique as it allows students to hear from amazing panelists.

"Intuit and International Girls Academy have come together to raise awareness of Black Women's Equal Pay day by hosting a Dinner & Learn session for the students of I.G.A. We have put together a panel of five Black women from Intuit in different phases of their career (think Black Lady Courtroom…but panel) sharing their journeys and advice on navigating corporate life.

In 2021, Black Women's Equal Pay Day was recognized on August 3, but unfortunately, due to recent data has now moved to September 21. According to the U.S. Census, on average, Black women were paid 63% of what non-Hispanic white men were paid in 2019. That means it takes the typical Black woman 19 months (now 21months) to be paid what the average white man takes home in 12 months. That's even worse than the national earnings ratio for all women, 83%, as reported in AAUW's The Simple Truth about the Gender Pay Gap."
